2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship Season: The Highlights
For the first time ever in 2022, Herock® Workwear sponsored the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB), supplying all the Racesafe marshals and other vital safety and event staff at each Bennetts BSB race event with Herock® branded uniforms, manufactured by Wearwell.
This year marked the 35th outing for the BSB, with racing taking place across the country, beginning with a bang at the Silverstone circuit over Easter weekend.
The competition has acted as a launching pad for up-and-coming riders looking to progress to the top levels of motorcycle racing, like the MotoGP World Championship for years so we thoroughly expected this season to be full of talent, fireworks and a fierce battle for the trophy.
The first win of the season was secured by Glenn Irwin, riding for Honda, with a treble victory at Silverstone. Bradley Ray won the first two races at Oulton Park, with Lee Jackson securing the winning spot for the third race on this circuit.
The next round of races took the riders to Donnington Park. Kyle Ryde won the first race for Rich Energy OMG Racing, with Jason O'Halloran securing the top position for the second and third races.
Ray impressed at the Knockhill circuit, landing another first place in race one after setting a record-breaking lap pace. Jason O'Halloran came first in the final two races at this location.
The end of July set of races at Brands Hatch GP saw Tarran McKenzie landing his first two wins for McAMS Yamaha, with O'Halloran also securing first place in the first race.
Again, McKenzie and O'Halloran dominated the podium top spots at Thruxton. Bradley Ray secured most of the wins at Cadwell Park and Snetterton 300, with Danny Buchan winning first place in two races.
The showdown commenced on the 24th September at Oulton Park, with Ray, Jackson, and Tommy Bridewell each winning a race. This propelled Jackson into contention for the overall Championship title to set up a nail biting run to the end of the season.
The penultimate races at Donnington Park GP saw Tom Sykes secure two first places, with Ray winning the weekend's final race.
Despite Ray coming out on top after the practice round at Brands Hatch, Glenn Irwin and Peter Hickman won first place in the final three races.
After finishing the final race in 5th place, Ray completed the season with 25 points, earning him his first Bennetts British Superbike Championship title victory.
Herock has thoroughly enjoyed being a sponsor throughout the 2022 season. We're looking forward to the start of the 2023 championship, which is scheduled to begin on 5th April at Silverstone and can’t wait to see all the riders, safety crew, marshals, and medics back on track for another thrilling year!
